Coatesville Shows Out for Unity Day

Coatesville residents and youth came out to Gateway Park in record numbers to celebrate Unity Day, Saturday, July 8, 2023. Along with some dedicated community volunteers, City Council members, Linda Lavender Norris, Carmen Green and Arvilla Hunt couldn’t have planned a better day. Food trucks, local vendors, and community organizations were on full display, demonstrating Coatesville’s diversity and unity spirit. Shannan Thomas, owner of Thee Social Station-Event Planning, helped transform the park into a welcoming space filled with music, dancing, food, games, and fireworks. Even in the boiling, hot temperatures, the celebration went on without a hitch. It was the one of Coatesville’s best community events this year, said Councilwoman Charisse Allen.

Unity Day also marks the kick-off for the Sounds of Summer Music Festival hosted by the City of Coatesville. The five (5) week music series is FREE to the public and shows are on the 2nd and 4th Friday evening at 6:45pm-starting July 28th ending September 22nd. This year’s series will feature performances from; G2 Band, The Experience Band (Washington DC), The Kevin Cooper Band and Hidden Treasures. DJ Dre Money and the 50/50 Entertainment LG’s crew will also be spinning Friday Nite wind down tunes to start the weekend. Bring you lawn chairs and dancing shoes. The Sounds of Summer Music Festival starts Friday, July 28th at 6:45pm-Gateway Park, Coatesville USA.
