On Monday, we confirmed that a peaceful protest and march in recognition of Minneapolis resident George Floyd’s death is planned for Thursday, June 4, 2020 in the City of Coatesville. It is our hope that the protest is a positive and peaceful one that acknowledges his passing, and efforts to unite all communities for change. It is our pledge to keep residents, businesses, youth and seniors safe during and after this demonstration.
Consistent with the Covid-19 Corona Virus policy City Hall will continue to be closed on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
The Police department will detour traffic at First Avenue and Lincoln Highway between 11:00am and 2:30pm. This message is not meant to alarm anyone, rather to let you know that we are taking precaution in the midst of Thursday’s potential gathering.
The demonstration organizers have stated that the event will be a peaceful one. We remain hopeful and will continue to keep safety our number one priority for the City, and all its residents.
