Real Estate (Property) Tax (13.759 mills)

Chester County assesses properties for real estate tax purposes, including the City’s, School District’s, and County’s tax. The last reassessment occurred in 1996-7.

 

Real Estate Tax Due Dates:

3/31/18: Deadline for 2% discount

5/31/18: Deadline for face amount

6/1/18 – 12/31/18:  10% penalty added to face amount

City of Coatesville’s tax rate in 2017 is 13.759 mills. The Real Estate Tax is calculated by applying the millage rate times the assessed valuation.  One mill equates to one dollar ($1.00) per thousand ($1,000) of assessed valuation. For example, a property with an assessed value of $60,000 would pay 13.759 x 60 or $825.54

Keystone Collections collects the Real Estate Tax RET).  For Questions regarding the RET, contact the local Keystone Collections Office at: 866-539-1100 Monday through Friday during 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Real Estate Tax payments may be mailed, paid in person or paid online in one of the following ways.

Keystone Installed a Drop Box to help taxpayers make easy and timely payments on their tax bills.  The box is located in front of the Chester County Intermediate Unit Building at 455 Boot Road, Downingtown, PA 19335. Residents can use the box to remit local tax returns, payments and related documents.  All contents must be placed in an envelope with the taxpayers’ name. address and phone number written on the front.  Cash should never be placed in the box – payment must be made only by check or money order.

The new drop box provides and alternative for residents who are concerned about the new coronavirus DELTA Variant and are trying to avoid personal contact when paying their tax bill.  Resident can continue to pay taxes safely and securely online by visiting www.keystoneCollects.com

Please be reminded that the form must be completed and either faxed or mailed to both the City of Coatesville and Chester County. Both addresses are available on the forms.
