The Recreation Department has worked to refocus its mission. The intent is
to help to improve the quality of life for all citizens through a myriad of
innovative recreation related programs. Strong emphasis is placed on programs
which generate family wellness and promote individual self esteem. Recreation
programs which traditionally placed emphasis on throwing out balls and bats
to kids is no longer enough. It this Department's goal to provide programs which
promote feelings of accomplishment and fulfillment, a sense of connectedness
and community, life long learning and joy through sponsored and City assisted
recreation programs.
